You think they were ready for a victory?
UPDATE: Looks like Florida International won the toss and elected not to play defense for the first half.

Well, I know we have been silent for a little bit – I have recovered from a major server crash – but I think things are going well. That is more than I can say for my beloved MTSU Blue Raiders. Tonight will be an interesting game – they face Florida International in a battle of the winless. Someone has to win, right?
Let’s hope MTSU pulls out their first win of the season.
Nala and Lizzie had another great play date. This time it was Nala’s domain –the lake! It took Lizzie quite a while to get acclimated to the water, but eventually she took the plunge and learned to swim (Kyle actually had to get in the water with her).

MTSU hasn’t faced two top 5 teams in two weeks ever (as far as I know). MTSU had a good showing against Louisville, but now they have to face LSU. If they can get through this part of their schedule (and get back to Murfreesboro in one piece), they should do pretty well in the rest of their Sun-Belt Schedule. However, I am hoping (against all logic) that LSU will be asleep at the wheel tonight – and that MTSU can pull the second-biggest upset of the season.
We’ll have to wait and see.
Today, Nala is walking around like she is 90 years old. No, it’s not because of any medical condition, instead it is because she found a new friend. Yesterday we had a “doggie play date” with our friends Kyle and Jessica and their dog, Lizzie. Nala hadn’t been around many other dogs (besides Lucky) in her short life, but that changed yesterday. They had a blast. We were able to let them off of their leashes and they played for an hour.
However, Lizzie isn’t Nala’s only new friend. Shannon bought a super cool mallard toy for Nala. It sounds exactly like a real duck! Nala loves it.
Nala is a bit better today – but still totally exhausted (we’re not complaining). Hope that all of you are doing well!

Today we added a much anticipated member to our Sims 2 Family, Sims 2 Bon Voyage. Shannon is trying it now, and we will certainly let all of you know how it goes. Installation was a bit quirky (as usual), but on the second install everything went well. I always backup Shannon’s Sim Game before an upgrade (as well as a daily backup to the server). I noticed that her Sims game data (not the program files) has topped the 1.5 Gb level. I am certainly going to call Brian and Sherrie today to see if they have had a chance to play this one yet.
Also, along with this game comes the announcement from Maxis of its next big expansion pack, Sims 2 Hobbies. WooHoo!
Happy Sim-ing.
Well, it was a bit of a mixed weekend for me. Out of my three teams in college football – two lost. Here is the quick summary:

MTSU was hot off the heels of a SunBelt Championship. However, any momentum that they had is sinking fast, very fast. MTSU Lost to fellow SunBelt team Florida Atlantic 14-27, and trust me, it wasn’t nearly that close. MTSU couldn’t even score until the fourth quarter. Oh, and next week, they have #8 Louisville. If they could pull this one off, it would be on par with Appalachian State (almost). I can hope.

Tennessee spanked Cal last year. 35-0 at half-time. So obviously they were a bit angry at Tennessee for messing up their season (only regular schedule loss last year). They were ready this year. Tennessee and Cal kept pace for the first half. However, after a few error right before the half, things started to unravel slightly. Tennessee showed signs of life at the end of the third/beginning of the fourth quarter, but the defense couldn’t hold off Cal forever. Cal eventually overtook them and won 45-31.

The University that writes my paychecks fared quite a bit better though (sorry for this one Brook). Georgia Tech traveled to South Bend and absolutely demolished any Brady Quinn euphoria that was left over at Notre Dame from last season. The final score was 33-3. Ouch. Go Buzz!
All in all, I think I speak for all fans when I say that I am just glad that college football is back. I don’t think any of my teams have a national title shot this year, but just getting to watch some great college football is a reward in itself.
It’s been a while since we’ve shown some pictures of Nala, so here we go:

The first of the bookcases is ready for priming (actually I have one more round of sanding, and then it is ready). I was able to finish the molding on the top of the bookcase. I learned that half of a good project is learning to use wood filler. I also learned that if you use the stainable wood filler that you need to have a Jimmy Hendrix record on hand – because you will be high as a kite by the time you are done with it. The pictures are below.
