Nursery – Complete.

Sunday
Oct 19,2008

Well it took a lot of work (particularly putting together that dresser), a lot of rearranging, some light construction, a bit of painting, a splash of sanding, and one very busy UPS guys – but, I believe we are done.

Shannon at 32 Weeks

Friday
Oct 17,2008

We are getting so close, and the excitement is growing everyday! Shannon is still looking pretty hot at 32 weeks. I know that many of you have been asking – so, just to let you know, Shannon is converting to part-time next week. This will enable her to still work with her reading recovery kids at school, but also let her enjoy the afternoons at home.

The Office Project

Tuesday

Well, it took a while. The second part of the two-part project is finally done (and actually was finished a month ago – it just took me a while to get this post written). Click the link below to see all of the pictures.

Ultrasound Pictures at 29 Weeks

Monday
Sep 29,2008

It has been a while since we actually got ultrasound pictures worth posting, but today we got some that were pretty good. As the boys get bigger, it is actually harder to get a good ultrasound picture (because they are so crammed in there). The doctor’s visit today went well, and Shannon is still showing good vital signs and proper growth. Click the link below to view all of the pictures.

Shannon at 29 Weeks

Sunday
Sep 28,2008

Well, it is hard to believe that 29 weeks have gone by already – but, they have. It is also hard to imagine how Shannon still looks so cute 29 weeks into the pregnancy. We have already had several people ask, so we figured we needed to put a picture up ASAP (Nala makes a small cameo in this one):

Nursery Taking Shape

Sunday
Sep 28,2008

It has taken some work, but the nursery is starting to take shape. This week we got the nursery bedding and valance put into place. As I said before, it is finally starting to look like a nursery!

Nursery In Progress

Tuesday
Sep 16,2008

Well, it’s finally coming together. We have been working in the nursery for a while now (and let me just say that I hate putting together furniture with crappy instructions….). For the first time, it is starting to actually look like a nursery. Shannon has been tirelessly laboring to get everything put away and in place. I have been working to put in the new closet organizer and get the furniture moved around. We still have a way to go, but you can check out the fruits of our labor:

Here is Shannon at 27 weeks (looking cute as always). I was a bit slow in getting her picture taken, so Lauren obliged.

Fighting Islamic Hackers

Friday
Sep 12,2008

While this might seem like a chapter from some action novel, it has indeed been real life for me in the last 24 hours. You might have come to this site sometime in the last bit and seen a page with Palestinian support messages (it was an ugly page). This is because a hacker in Turkey has been performing an RFI hack on my web server. It shouldn’t happen again – hopefully.

Tech Tip: Online Backups

Friday
Aug 22,2008

Every now and then, I want to give everyone some tech tips that might make your life easier. The topic for today: backups. First, I want to say that all hard drives will fail eventually. They are mechanical and can’t last forever. Some hard drives fail within 6 months (yes, there are ‘lemons’), and some hard drives can last five years. Everyone should assume that their hard drive could potentially fail at any point. This is why backups are so important.

If you have a high-speed Internet connection, you can find some good solutions for backing up your data online. This is important because it will survive any disasters (unlike a local backup solution). A new solution that seems pretty easy to use is SpiderOak. One of the things I really like about them is their encryption method. Without the password, even the people at SpiderOak can’t view your files. SpiderOak gives you 2GB of online storage for free (and you can upgrade to 100 GB for $10 a month). The software also seems pretty easy to use.

If you have less than 2GB of really important files (pictures, purchased music, financial records, etc…) then you can have an online backup system today for free (and you can sleep easier tonight). The SpiderOak site has tutorial videos to assist you in the process.

DISCLAIMER: I am in no way affiliated with SpiderOak, but if they wanted to buy us something from our Baby Registry, I wouldn’t be upset. :)
